Police say a 6-year-old Florida girl was accidentally shot in the head by her 10-year-old sibling Tuesday evening and died early the next morning.

Investigators initially thought the girl shot herself, but they later determined it was her older sibling who shot her at a Palm Bay apartment, according to Florida Today.

When police arrived to the scene they tried to resuscitate the girl, and then rushed her to the hospital where she later died.

“We believe it’s an accidental shooting,” Palm Bay police spokesman Mike Smith said.

It is unknown where the gun came from.

Officials didn’t immediately name the victim or the older sibling. No criminal charges have been filed.
