(INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, Florida)– After a vehicle tumbled into a canal, an Indian River County Sheriff’s deputy was on the scene and helped rescue three people, on October 8th.

Deputy Dan Whittington had been called to investigate another incident when he came across the crash.

“I happened to be passing by here, responding to another call, and I saw (a) guy pointing to the ditch, and I saw the bottom of the car,” Whittington said to our partners at WPTV.

According to officials, Whittington was able to save an elderly couple and their caregiver after their car had flipped over and landed upside down in a canal near to Indian River Mall.
