Three people are now facing child abuse charges after they failed to seek medical assistance for an infant who was attacked by a dog.

The incident was reported in Bristol, Virginia.

Officials say that despite the 7-month-old having a piece of his ear ripped off by the dog, his caretakers did not seek help for the infant for several hours.

The child was eventually taken to the hospital where he was admitted for two days.

James Reed, Morgan Self and Sandra Reed, who have been identified as the infant’s caretakers, have been arrested.

They are now facing abuse and neglect of a child.
