4 dead in Indiana mall shooting, bystander kills gunman

GREENWOOD, IN- Police responded to reports of a gunman at the Greenwood Park Mall outside if Indianapolis on Sunday.

Four people, including the gunman, are dead.

The shooting took place inside the mall’s food court, and the suspected gunman was shot dead by an armed citizen.

The gunman appeared to be acting alone and according to Assistant Indianapolis Metro Police Chief Chris Bailey there is no ongoing threat to the public.

He was reportedly using a rifle and was carrying extra ammunition.

Officials say the 22 year old witness who killed the shooter is cooperating with police.

The names of the victims and the gunman have not yet been released and police are working to establish a motive.
