(ST. PETERSURG, FL)– A 29-year-old man has been arrested for murdering his mother after she was found dead inside of her home during a welfare check.
The body of 60-year-old Harriet Owens was discovered by police on Saturday around 11 a.m. after a concerned relative called the St. Petersburg Police Department.
Authorities say Owens’ body had multiple defensive wounds on her body.
Her son Jontrell Collins, was said to have been inside the home at the point she was discovered.
Authorities have since taken him into custody on second-degree murder charges.
