LEHIGH VALLEY, PA— A 27-year-old man is dead days after he was found with his pet Boa Constrictor wrapped around his neck.
Elliot Senseman died in the Lehigh Valley Hospital on Sunday of an anoxic brain injury according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office:
“A Boa Constrictor type snake approximately 18’ in length constricted around the neck of Mr. Senseman, thus causing the anoxic brain injury (complete lack of oxygen to the brain),” the coroner’s office said.
Authorities say they were called to a home in the Fogelsville neighborhood Wednesday to find Senseman with the snake wrapped around his neck. Officials say when they got to him, he was already unconscious and in cardiac arrest.
Officials were able to free Senseman by shooting the snake in the head and then worked to untangle his body.
Several other animals including two more snakes were also found in the house.
Family members say Senseman was known to rescue abused or abandoned animals.
