PEMBROKE PINES, FL– A 25-year-old Pembroke Pines man is now in police custody after he admitted to intentionally drowning his family’s six-year-old pit bull.
Corey Dacres was arrested Sunday after the pit bull was found at the bottom of the community swimming pool at the Advenir at San Tropez apartment complex.
Authorities say Dacres got into an argument with family members and decided to take the dog with him for a walk.
While on the walk, Dacres reportedly threw the dog over a locked five-foot fence and into the closed community pool.
The 25-year-old then went back to the home and told his mother that he killed the dog.
Officials say that when they arrived, they found the dog at the bottom of the pool and Dacres still wearing wet clothes.
Dacres is charged with one felony count of aggravated animal cruelty and was booked into the Broward County jail.
