A 21-year-old Florida woman is facing multiple felony charges after she caused a vehicle wreck that killed another woman.
The incident occurred in Miami around 4:00 a.m.
North Bay Village police say they noticed Shamonni Alexandre driving at a high rate of speed in the area and attempted to pull her over.
Alexandre refused to pull over and continued driving until she was out of their jurisdiction.
The 21-year-old reportedly then ran through a red light at Northeast 82nd Street and Biscayne Boulevard.
Her vehicle crashed into another vehicle transporting 22-year-old Shereka Oriscar.
Both vehicles were said to have caught fire. Bystanders were able to get Alexandre out of her vehicle, but could not get Oriscar out of hers.
Oriscar died at the scene in her vehicle, while Alexandre was transported to an area hospital.
During a court hearing Monday, prosecutors reported that Alexandre did not have a valid driver’s license “due to seven suspensions …”
Alexandre has been charged with driving without a license and causing death and vehicular homicide.
Once she is released from the hospital, she will be booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
