ATLANTA, GA– A 2-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was shot by a suspect targeting his father.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Wednesday outside of a barber shop along Peters Street SW.
Investigators say a man and his son were leaving the barber shop when a Kia Optima began following their car.
Once the man and his son reached the intersection, the vehicle pulled up beside them and the occupants opened fire.
The father sped away from the scene and then pulled over to a nearby fire station once he realized his son had been shot.
The child was rushed to an area hospital, where he is said to be in serious but stable condition.
Authorities say they believe the child’s father was targeted and are speaking to him about the incident.
