Two members of the U.S National Guard have reportedly been removed from President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration security detail after it was found that they may have ties to fringe right group militias.

A senior U.S intelligence official and a U.S Army official spoke to AP under the condition of anonymity about the incident saying that during the vetting process for members of the military serving during the inauguration, they were forced to remove at least two military members because of their ties to extreme right-groups.

It was not said what group the members were apart of or what unit they served in, in the military. When asked whether there was a creditable threat towards Joe Biden, authorities said they have not found a plot against the president-elect at this time.

When AP reached out to the National Guard Bureau about the incident, they were referred to the Secret Service, who told them that they would not comment on the statement by the senior official.
