Two people are dead after they were attacked by a camel who had gotten loose at a petting zoo.
The incident occurred around 4:45 p.m. on Thursday at Shirley Farms in Obion, Tennessee.
Obion Sheriff’s officials reported that when they arrived to the scene, they found two men unconscious on the ground.
The victims identified as 42-year-old Bobby Matheny and 67-year-old Tommy Gunn were pronounced dead at the scene.
While authorities were attempting to move one of the bodies to an EMS vehicle, the animal then charged at deputies. It was also said to have struck a patrol car.
“It was at this time officers had to put the camel down for the safety of everyone on scene,” authorities reported.
