(FLAGLER COUNTY, FL)– The Flagler County Sheriffs office is reporting that a 19-year-old who is accused of killing his grandfather and injuring his father is now facing sexual battery charges.
The charge was added after new evidence about the murder of Darwin Ingram came to light.
“The information gathered by our Detectives during this case revealed just how gruesome and violently he murdered one family member and severely attacked another and then attacked our deputies,” Sheriff Rick Staly said.
The suspect Luke Ingram from Georgia reportedly attacked his 85-year-old grandfather after having dinner with his father and Darwin on Nov. 9.
Ingram’s father, Clint Ingram told authorities that during dinner he noticed that Luke who is diagnosed with schizophrenia, had been acting strange and staring at them.
Clint says he then walked into his bedroom and locked the door because of his son’s strange behavior.
Moments later, Clint says he heard screaming and went to check it out.
That’s when he saw his father on the ground.
Luke then reportedly began choking Clint, however, Clint was able to free himself and ran to a neighbor for help.
When police arrived, they found Luke inside of the home clutching a blunt object.
Luke allowed authorities to lead him outside, however, once outside he began to struggle with them.
Officials reported that they had to use the Taser on Luke three times to subdue him.
While authorities interviewed Luke at the police station, Luke reportedly began struggling with officers again.
According to the report, he bit at least one person before authorities were able to subdue him again.
Ingram has been indicted for first-degree murder, sexual battery with a deadly weapon/force, domestic battery by strangulation, aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and resisting an officer without violence.
He faces life in prison if convicted.
