
(ARCADIA, FLA) — A teenager was fatally shot on Saturday at a county fair well-known for its rodeos in Arcadia, FL.
A 17-year-old boy was shot at the DeSoto County Fair after being involved in an isolated incident and died Saturday night, according to the Arcadia Police Department.
The gunman was not caught by midday Sunday, and no additional threat was made to the public. No further details on the incident were released.
“The DeSoto County Fair Association would first and foremost like to send its heartfelt condolences to the family of the young man who lost his life last night,”the DeSoto County Fair Associated said in a statement posted to Facebook. “After careful deliberation, we have decided that the midway will be CLOSED today.”
Arcadia is home to the ‘Arcadia All-Florida Championship Rodeo’, Florida’s oldest rodeo event.
