13-year-old Florida boy among three arrested for shooting officer

LAKELAND, FL– The Lakeland Police Department has released a video showing a 13-year-old boy shooting at a police officer.
The incident took place Wednesday at the Carrington Place Apartments on Lincoln Avenue around 5:15 p.m.
Authorities say the officer was responding to reports of a shooting in the area when he encountered someone getting into the back of a white Dodge Avenger.
The officer yelled out to the suspect but the suspect refused to obey commands and got into the vehicle anyway.
The vehicle, occupied by two others, then sped off.
The suspect continued driving down Lincoln Avenue and bailed from the moving vehicle after turning south on Kettles Avenue.
The vehicle crashed into a white sedan before coming to a stop, while the suspects fled the scene.
The officer noticed one of the occupants had a gun on them and pursued the suspect on foot.
As the officer rounded the corner of the apartment building, he was shot in the foot by the suspect.
Despite being shot, the officer continued the pursuit of the suspect who took cover in the bushes. As the officer passed the bushes, the suspect jumped out of them. The officer ordered the suspect to drop his weapon, however, the suspect refused. He was eventually shot by the officer and brought into custody.
The suspect was identified as 13-year-old Wesley Dalmas of Lakeland. Authorities say Dalmas has a criminal history and was arrested earlier this year.
19-year-old Jermaine Julian of Lakeland was identified as the driver of the vehicle and 14-year-old Leonard Speight, Jr. of Lakeland was identified as the front passenger.
All three suspects have been taken into custody on various charges.
