A family is mourning their 12-year-old son after the child fell from a float during a homecoming parade.
The incident occurred Friday afternoon at Westwood Community School in Sloan, Iowa.
Not many details have been released about the accident, however, authorities did say the boy who was on the junior high’s football and cross country teams was participating on the float when he fell.
He was airlifted to an area hospital where he later died from his injuries.
The football game that was scheduled to take place that Friday night, was rescheduled for Saturday where members of the team wore stickers with the 12-year-old’s jersey number on their helmets.
