COLUMBUS, OH– Several teens were taken to the hospital after a 12-year-old crashed a stolen vehicle into a fire engine in Columbus on Monday.
Authorities say the 12-year-old driver attempted to drive the 2021 Kia Sorento around several vehicles that stopped at a stop sign to allow a fire engine to pass.
Once the driver passed the other vehicles, he immediately crashed into the fire engine.
Authorities say while the 12-year-old was the one driving the stolen vehicle, it was occupied by two 16-year-old boys, two 15-year-old boys, and a 14-year-old boy.
At least four of the teens remain hospitalized as of Tuesday.
A Columbus police spokesperson reported that one of the juveniles is facing charges for the incident, but that three of the teens have been arrested in the past for receiving stolen property.
Officials also reported that four guns were found inside of the vehicle.
