SAN ANTONIO, TX — An 11-month-old has died after a 50-year-old man opened fire on a mother and her four children during a domestic situation.
The incident occurred on Monday at a home in San Antonio.
Authorities say Stephen Clare opened fire on the 28-year-old woman and then targeted the children.
The woman was shot in the neck and the lower torso. Her 11-month-old and her 2-year-old were also rushed to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
The 11-month-old was pronounced dead Tuesday.
The woman’s 8-year-old and an 11-year-old were able to escape by breaking windows in different locations of the home and fleeing the scene.
After the shooting, Clare also fled the scene but was arrested about a mile away.
He has since been charged with capital murder of a child under 10 and multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
