HOMESTEAD, FL —Miami-Dade Police are investigating the death of a 10-month-old infant who stopped breathing while at a daycare center.
The incident occurred at the Lincoln-Marti Daycare near North Krome Avenue and Northwest Fifth street on Monday.
An employees says they noticed the child, Tayvon Tomlin, was not breathing while preparing a bottle to feed him. Staff members then attempted CPR but it was unsuccessful.
Tomlin was airlifted to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The family says they are left with so many questions after the child was dropped off at the daycare center in seemingly healthy condition.
“He was fine this morning, so I don’t understand what could have happened. I don’t know,” said Adrienne Harris, Tayvon’s step-grandmother.
They also reported that investigators told them that while the room Tomlin was in did have cameras, they were not working.
Lincoln-Marti says they are working with the police to determine what happened to the child.
