One teen is dead and another teen was injured after a pile of sand collapsed on them while they were digging a hole at a beach.
The incident occurred around 4:10 p.m. Tuesday near Seaview Road on the barrier island in Toms River, New Jersey.
Officials say they were called to the area after the teens became trapped under the sand.
A 17-year-old female was rescued from the sand and treated at the scene, while her 18-year-old brother died from his injuries inside the collapse.
According to reports, the family was visiting the area from Maine.
