Two people are dead and two others have been injured in a shooting that took place Thursday afternoon on a Broward County Transit bus according to Fort Lauderdale police.

The incident occurred just after 2:30 PM along the 1300 block of Broward Blvd. in front of Fort Lauderdale police headquarters.

The shooting was not officer involved.

Three motorists were injured in a car crash that occurred as the bus driver took evasive action when the shooting broke out.

One person died on the bus, another died at Broward Health Medical Center where all of the victims were taken by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

The driver drove the bus into the police station parking lot and the person responsible then reportedly surrendered to officers.

The name of the shooter and those of the victims have not yet been released.

Portions of Broward Blvd. between the 1100 and 1400 blocks remained closed as police investigate.
