One person is dead and two others have been left in critical condition after an active shooter situation on a Navy Base in Maryland.

The incident was reported at the Fort Detrick Navy Base in Fredrick.

Authorities say a 38-year-old man went off base and entered an industrial park on Progress Ct.  He then opened fire, shooting two adult males.

At least one of the victims was able to make it to a nearby business, Nicolock Paving Stones, were they were able to get help.

It was reported that after the shooting, the suspect left the area and went to Fort Detrick where they were shot by base personnel after breaching the gate.

Attempts to revive the suspect failed and they were pronounced dead at the scene.

While shooter was not identified by name, the Navy Public Affairs did report that the shooter was in the Navy:

“The U.S. Navy can confirm there was an active shooter incident at Fort Detrick, MD involving U.S. Navy Sailors. The shooter, a Navy Hospital Corpsman, is deceased. We will continue to update with additional details as the situation evolves. ”

This is a developing story.
