
One person is dead and another person was injured after they were attacked by a dog at a rescue foundation.
The incident was said to have occurred just before 11 a.m. on Thursday at the dog rescue group 100+ Abandoned Dogs of Everglades Florida in Oakland Park.
The Broward Sheriff’s office says that they responded to the scene on 345 E. Commercial Blvd to find one woman had been severely attacked, while another woman sustained minor injuries while trying to help the victim.
Both women were transported to an area hospital where one of the women died of her injuries.
Not much is known about the incident at this time, however, authorities did report that the dog involved in the attack is a large mix-breed dog and is now in the custody of Animal Care and Control.
BSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives are investigating the incident.
