Officials in North Carolina are reporting that a 3-year-old boy was killed and his sister was left injured doing a shooting near a home.
The incident occurred just before midnight at the children’s great grandmother’s house in Charlotte.
Authorities say two vehicles were seen stopping in front of the home before several people exited the vehicles and began shooting at the home.
Over 150 bullets were said to have been fired at the home before the suspects took off.
The 3-year-old boy was shot and died in his father’s arms while his 4-year-old sister was grazed by a bullet.
Authorities say there were 11 people present and/or living in the home at the time and that they believe the shooting is related to two other homicides with some connection to students at Hopewell High School.
“We believe that these tragic events stemmed from some simple disputes. What started out as teenage dispute games, has turned into a deadly game that’s now taken two lives,” CMPD Captain Joel McNelly said.
It is unclear who was the intended target.
At this time, authorities have not located any of the suspects involved.
