Woman Drowns During Fight in Riviera Beach Pond

Police identified a woman who drowned in a retention pond during a fight with another woman in Riviera Beach as 21-year-old Liane Gibson.
The incident began Friday night around 11:30 pm when a group of women entered the Indian Trace Apartments complex to fight another group of women. During the fight, two of the women went into the retention pond in the back of the complex but only one of the women came out. The Riviera Beach dive team was called to the scene around 12:00 am to assist in the search for the woman, however, due to the depth of the water and dangerous conditions, they were unable to complete the search. Crews pulled the body of 21- year-oldĀ Liane Gibson out of the pond Saturday morning.
A spokeswoman for police says no charges have been filed at this point as the investigation is ongoing.
