Lauderdale Police Department in 1979 as a patrol officer and since has been everything from a SWAT commander to chief of police and Sheriff of Broward County. If fact, it was his deputies responded to the Fort Lauderdale Airport last January when an active shooter opened fire in the baggage claim area.
