Authorities in Tampa, Florida are currently investigating an overnight shooting outside of a teen club that left two people dead.

The incident occurred at around 10:45 p.m Monday night at “The Club” located on the 5800 block of 50th Street North.

Promoters of the event said they shut down early and begin evacuating the event because the event experienced several fights. Between 150 to 200 people were said to have been in the process of leaving the premises when shots were fired according to reports.

In a press conference Tuesday morning, Colonel Donna Lusczynski reported that two armed security guards fired at two people in a vehicle, whom they believed were firing into the crowd.

“At one point the heard initially what was fireworks, then they heard gunshots,” Colonel Donna Lusczynski said. “The security guards moved over to where the gunshots were coming from, saw an individual firing a weapon. Both of them being in fear for their lives at that time both fired their guns.”

Luszynski also reported that two people were found dead in a vehicle.

“We have two individuals that are deceased in the vehicle. A male and a female,” Lusczynski added.

Event promoters say they are unsure why the fights occurred in the club, while authorities are still investigating what led to the shooting.

The deceased have not been identified at this time as authorities are currently waiting on a search warrant to enter the vehicle.

The Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone who may have seen something or have information regarding this incident to please contact them at 813-247-8200.
