In a departure from the Trump bashing that usually opens “Saturday Night Live,” Saturday night the show aired an opening skit bolstering Trump’s Tweets, “There’s no Russian Collusion.”
The opening skit that riffed on ABC’s “The Bachelor” featured the new Bachelorette, Becca (playing a heartbroken voter) and Special Counsel Robert Mueller (portrayed by Kate McKinnon).
Mueller made the tough decision to pursue President Trump on obstruction charges rather than collusion with the Russian government — to the distraught voter’s dismay.
“So. What, you don’t have Trump on collusion?” Cecily Strong playing Becca responds.
“I’m just trying to be honest and tell you that I can’t commit to collusion right now,” McKinnon says back.
Becca then asks him horrified, “I have to wait two more years for him to be out of office?” To which Mueller responds, “Honestly, probably six.”
“If it makes you feel any better, the Kush is cooked and you’re the next Bachelorette,” he added, referencing Trump’s son-in-law and senior White House adviser Jared Kushner.
As for Stormy Daniels, the skit revealed that “it’s fun, but not part of the investigation.”
