Karen has worked in television and radio in Miami for more than a decade. Her office was inside a helicopter as a photojournalist running the television camera and reporting on traffic and breaking news. She was known as “The Wahine,” on Majic 102.7 and was also the traffic reporter for NBC 6. Karen’s helicopter expertise took her to New York City where she flew as a photojournalist reporting for WCBS.
Karen was a main television anchor and health specialist for fifteen years on ABC affiliates in Gainesville and West Palm Beach. She was the recipient of the U.P.I “Best Reporter in State” award for her work in Florida.
Karen is also a watercolor artist who paints the South Florida environment and stylized women of passion. Karen has shown her paintings from Hawaii to London. She is a graduate of the University of Hawaii where she majored in Journalism, Fine Art and French.
Karen was a world-class runner earning a full scholarship to the University of Hawaii and being named “The Fastest Woman in Hawaii” by “USA Today.”
Karen is a loving and devoted mother of a 16-year-old daughter, Katrina.
