Fake Cop Arrested
(Miami FL.) -- According to a news release, Ruben Yepes-Quiroz installed red and blue flashing lights on his car and pulled over another vehicle at Southwest 60th Avenue and Eighth Street. A real police officer who was in the area stopped at the scene to provide assistance when he found Yepes-Quiroz carrying two fake badges and other electronics inside his car. The 31-year-old is facing several charges while police try to determine if he's stopped other vehicles in the past.
Boat Collision in the Keys
(Miami FL.) -- A Sunday ride on the waves almost ends in tragedy for a man and a woman out for a spin on their wave runners. The man and the woman were riding along when they both collided with a boat near the Bear Cut Bridge which connects Virginia Key to Key Biscayne in Miami. The impact knocked the woman unconscious. The boat’s operator jumped into the water and pulled the woman out. She was taken to Ryder Trauma Center in serious condition. The man is listed in stable condition. No one on the boat was injured and police are investigating to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash.
Apartment Collapse
(Hialeah FL.) -- Residents are under alert after part of their building fell Sunday afternoon in Hialeah. Fire rescue was called out to the complex located on west 5th street after the eaves of 2 buildings came down. Several sheets of plywood that made up the eaves fell for unknown reasons. One woman suffered lacerations to her head. She was taken to the hospital. Debris was cleared and residents were able to stay in their homes. The cause of the collapse is still under investigation.
