Authorities in Jacksonville, Florida have launched an investigation in the death of a family horse, after the horse was found shot to death in the family’s pasture last week.

Investigators believe that the horse may have been shot with a high-powered rifle from either the Oceanway village or the Gillespie Gardens area between 10:00 p.m. on Friday and 5:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Mandi Harris, who’s family raised the horse they named Turbo, from birth and who used to compete with the horse as a teen told 850 WFTL that she and her family are sickened by the discovery and that she will not stop until the person who killed Turbo is brought to justice:

“It sickens me that some senseless, mentally disturbed person took Turbo’s life … he didn’t deserve that, and I will stop shy of nothing to find the person who did this and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.”

Harris is now offering a $3,000 reward for anyone with information that leads to an arrest.  She has also started a Gofundme page to help boost the reward.

If Turbo’s killer is not found, then Harris will donate all the money raised to the humane society in his honor.

Mandi Harris joined the South Florida morning show Wednesday morning at 8:00 am. Here is the exclusive interview!
