Authorities are reporting that a teen was bitten by a venomous snake while he was at school.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon shortly after classes were dismissed at University High School in Orange City, Florida.

According to the school spokesman, the 19-year-old student found the coral snake and brought it onto the school campus where it latched onto his knuckle. The student was taken to Sanford hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

Coral snakes are said to possess one of the most deadly venoms of any North American snake.
