Deputies Kill Motorist During Evacuation Route Dispute

Authorities in South Carolina say a motorist was shot and killed by multiple deputies in Moncks Corner, after an evacuation dispute.

The shooting occurred Wednesday around 5:30pm when authorities say an unidentified  motorist came to a check point and knocked down a few traffic cones before speeding off.

When deputies were finally able to catch up with the motorist a few miles away, they said the motorist pointed a gun at deputies and opened fire.

Several deputies shot back, wounding the man who was then taken to the hospital where he died.

None of the officers were injured due to the incident, however, four officers are now on administrative leave pending an investigation.
