Jim DeFede is synonymous with South Florida news.  He’s was an award winning writer for the Miami New Times for 11 years, a metro columnist for the Miami Herald for 4 years and currently writes for Miami Monthly Magazine.  Jim joined CBS 4 News (WFOR-TV) in January of 2006, where he provides regular commentary and reporting, including investigative reports.  See his CBS 4 reports HERE.

Jim DeFede is truly a force on the local news scene.

Jim also writes for large national and international news organizations, like The New Republic, Newsday, Mother Jones, and The (London) Independent.  His first book, “The Day The World Came To Town: 9/11 in Gander, Newfoundland,” was published in 2002 by HarperCollins and was recognized with a 2003 Christopher Award for its ability to “affirm the highest values of the human spirit.” Universal Studios has optioned the book for a major motion picture.

Born in Brooklyn in 1962, with stops in Colorado and Washington State, Jim is truly a South Floridian.
